Russell Residence

Arcline Architecture designed this home in Russell, Bay of Islands, with the team at David Reid Homes. 

The site had considerable contour to it so deep thought had to be given to how to make the most of the site with the home design. The result – a four bedroom, four bathroom home with garage and outdoor living areas fitting snugly into the landform. 

Set on the hillside above Russell in the Bay of Islands gave this home grandstand views of the bay and boat moorings below. By using a considerate amount of glass, both in the windows, doors and balustrades the design embraced the beautiful views in the best way possible. 

Using a mix of James Hardies Linea Weatherboard and Specialized EZpanel Plaster gave the cladding on the home a mix of textures. This was needed as the walls, joinery, roof, gutters and downpipes were all painted white, a stunning coastal style. 

With open living spaces flowing onto decks and a rear outdoor entertaining area, the outdoors and indoors combine to create the perfect coastal home design. 

A Bay of Islands house design is always enjoyable yet challenging for the Arcline Team. Many of the sites that remain in Russell, Paihia and Opua are steep, bush clad sites with multiple constraints. However, with an experienced design team and detailed planning the perfect design can be achieved.
