Carrington Golf Resort, Karikari Peninsula
Carrington Estate is a luxury resort located on the scenic Karikari Peninsula, in the Far North of New Zealand.
Arcline were engaged to design this resort from scratch, which included a winery, restaurant, conference facilities, golf pro shop, lodge and 14 villas. Putting our resort architecture skills to the test, the final outcome is spectacular, and the buildings compliment the landscape perfectly.
It started with a dream. A 3000-acre property on the Karikari Peninsula – what would it deserve, how would it look, how would visitors best interact with the landscape? Featuring one of Northlands finest golf courses, the buildings had to both service and compliment this.
The design of the lodge, restaurant and villas was similar. Timeless, elegant, with large trees surrounding them for context and shade in the hot summer months. The use of double posts and finials on the verandas gave a ‘lodge-like’ feel to the Estate.
The winery, a separate building on the hillside, is a separate design altogether. Mediterranean and Spanish buildings influenced this design. Grapevines lead up the hill and the vineyard and landscaping’s symmetry draws you toward the Winery.
Visiting Carrington Estate really is like experiencing a slice of Northland.
