DESIGN & CONSENTING

The design of a new school or classroom block is always a challenge as the project has many stakeholders. Teachers, students and the school board has needs, wants, and most importantly, a budget. Arcline works with all parties to ensure the best outcome is achieved through the design of any new school buildings, ensuring learning spaces are modern and the buildings are low maintenance and robust. We also process all consents for new buildings and engage all required sub-consultants for each project.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

While a new school building is being processed through local Council, we put the project out for tender, manage the tendering process and assist the School Board in selecting the best contractor for the job. We then Project Manage the build, providing weekly site visits and meetings with the School Board and the builders to check building accuracy and timelines and provide advice on minor changes and color schemes for the new building or classrooms.

10 YEAR PROPERTY PLANS

Arcline has worked with the Ministry of Education for many years, helping manage around fifteen Northland public schools ten year property plans and budgets. Our building background means we can accurately assess the existing buildings the school uses and provide a detailed report on each with suggested upgrades and refurbishments to each building in the coming years. By maintaining all the buildings to educational standards improves student learning, classroom environment and therefore grades.

These vibrant and innovative Learning Centres are a relatively new concept in education and are being taken up in schools world wide. The design supports a self-directed learning model which helps students develop life long work habits. This is done by providing a variety of zones that facilitate both focused and dynamic learning. A teacher support desk is located at the core with collective areas for group work surrounding it. ‘Quiet Rooms’ are situated on the perimeter and provide a space for focused, individual learning.
