Situated on one of the most prestigious sites in the Bay of Islands is this beautiful home we designed in collaboration with David Reid Homes. 

Less than a minute drive to the North of the Russell Township is the Pukematu Lane gated subdivision. Home to only around ten residences, this is a secret haven with the best views in New Zealand. 

The original design was a three bedroom, three bathroom home. Then, several years later, and with the property under new ownership, we were engaged to design a standalone garage and studio.

The home sits snugly against the steep hillside. Landscaping has been kept low in front of the home to protect the views across the bay to Motuarohia Island and beyond.

Every room was designed to take full advantage of the spectacular views, with carefully positioned doors, windows and Velux skylights to maximise views whilst retaining privacy. 

Upon entering the home you’re dwarfed by the size, yet comfort, of the main living room. Exposed trusses and a roaring fire condense the volume to give a snug feeling to the large space, with glass sliders picture-framing the view to the Islands. 

A bath, surrounded by glass sits proudly in the corner of the Master Bedroom ensuite. Without a doubt one of the most amazing views from a bathtub in the country.
