Although renovation projects are not what we usually focus on, we were engaged to complete the architectural plans for this ‘black barn’ styled project near Kerikeri. 

The existing building was an old, tired home lacking in upkeep and care. Sporting a faded green roof and overgrown gardens it was clearly a mammoth project. 

However, our clients had a bold vision to transform the property into an equestrian lovers heaven. Reroofing, repainting, stripping, demolishing and building bought this old beauty to life. What emerged is a black barn styled home fitted perfectly to its setting. 

Inside the home walls were moved and adjusted to improve the layout. Every surface was painted and  bathrooms were stripped and replaced with beautiful white marble tiles and gold fittings and fixtures. 

Black glass barn doors are used as a feature in the bedrooms, and the original high ceilings give the home an open and spacious feel. 

Outside, the landscaping has been removed and replanted. The old sheds have been turned into an Airbnb accommodation unit overlooking the horse arena.
