In 2017 we built a new studio for our Team to work from in Kaitaia. Using a mix of black and cedar cladding the building stands out as a stunning addition to the commercial area of Kaitaia.

The form is simple – a monopitch roof wrapping down the rear wall with no eaves. The rear wall is on a 5 degree angle to add that touch of funk. Ebony colored Metalcraft Metdek roofing clads the roof and wraps down the rear of the building as a vertical metal cladding. 

A generously sized kwila hardwood deck wraps around the front two sides of the studio, the vertical cedar wing walls and soffits continuing this timber perimeter around the facade of the building on your arrival. 

Inside, a mix of light and dark Jacobsen’s overlay flooring, greyscale patterned carpet tiles and a black ceiling give the studio a modern, clean, fresh vibe. David Trubridge lights cast artistic shadows around the spaces, and the large Starke aluminium sliders flood the space with sunlight. 

The new studio is the perfect place to come each day and design world class architecture from here in Northland, New Zealand. Complimented by our Kerikeri and Whangarei offices we can now easily cover all Northland’s architecture needs from our multiple office locations.
