Arcline Architecture were engaged along with Beard Parsonson Architecture and KPH Construction to design and build a new cultural centre for Kaitaia, including a Museum, Library, Cafe, Information Centre and Far North District Council Offices. 

The building was a renovation of the existing Kaitaia Community Centre which was a large events hall with a separate cinema room, kitchen, dining rooms and outdoor area. 

The final building design speaks for itself. With two architectural firms working hard to connect the new building to the existing buildings whilst satisfying the needs and wants of the community and all stakeholders, and getting the design to speak about the meeting of different cultures in Kaitaia, the design process was complex and detailed, yielding a stunning final result. 

Such an amazing building for a small community is a huge achievement, and the country followed the project with great interest, Governor-General at the time Sir Jerry Mateparae attending the opening ceremony of the building, as seen in this press article.
